To make full use of the functions of mail today, you must have an email account that allows your mail to be managed on a central server. IMAP and Microsoft Exchange server is working in this way. This document provides a brief introduction to the differences between IMAP, POP3 e-mail and Exchange solutions.

The IMAP mailboxes, and displays messages on the mail server as if they were on a local computer. The original remains on the server at all times and any changes are recorded. When you access the mail on a computer or mobile device, simply download a copy. Information concerning the e-mail, for example, which is in the folder, and whether or not it was read, it is also saved with the original mail server.

The old “Post Office Protocol” only partially meets the needs of today e-mail.

It only allows e-mail to be read and written locally on your mail client. Similarly, the folders to organize your e-mail can only be created on the client. If access to your account from multiple locations or across multiple devices, using POP3 can make the management of e-mail a great deal. This means that your mailbox is always updated and always looks the same, no matter where or on which device is seen. Alternatively, to access your e-mail via IMAP is to use Microsoft Exchange. E ‘troppo instantly mirrors local e-mail activity on the server. IMAP and Exchange is to support and push email. In other words, tell your mail program, not just a new email arrives.
