OneBridge Mobile Groupware iPhone Evaluation Guide PDF Manual

OneBridge Mobile Groupware helps IT departments to control access to corporate email, related personal data and more from a variety of mobile devices. Users of OneBridge are able to access corporate systems anywhere at anytime in a secure manner. In response to the strong demand by IT departments willing to provide access to corporate data from the new Apple iPhone device, OneBridge has added support for this new platform. Access to email is provided through the built-in email application available on the device. Users can also access their corporate and personal address book through the Safari Browser. This guide provides OneBridge Administrators with all the information necessary to configure their OneBridge environment to allow access from Apple iPhone devices. For further information about OneBridge and its individual components, please consult the more general product manuals available within the OneBridge Installation Package.

The new components introduced to support iPhone devices integrate transparently into the groupware infrastructure. No change is required to allow iPhone devices access to the already connected messaging systems. If your company allows access to your messaging systems for mobile devices over 2G and 3G networks, you might be already familiar with the unique relay server architecture introduced with the 5.5 release of the OneBridge product. The OneBridge DMZ Proxy component allows secure behind the firewall deployment of the OneBridge Infrastructure. In such scenario connections from all mobile devices truly end within the DMZ of your enterprise. This unique architectural design still applies for connections from Apple iPhone devices. Most of today’s supported devices run an OneBridge client component that utilizes a FIPS 140-2 validated encryption module to allow for highly secured data transport. Due to the limited on-device development capabilities provided by Apple, the support for iPhone device connections is archieved through a protocol translation service residing on the OneBridge DMZ proxy. This new service, named the Internet Mail Gateway Service is described in more detail later in this document. The new service translates incoming IMAP and SMTP commands from connecting devices into commands compliant to your OneBridge Infrastructure, all data still gets transferred through the OneBridge DMZ Proxy as it happens today. The iPhone device itself utilizes the SSL protocol to encrypt data received or send over public networks. In addition to the Internet Mail Gateway Service, OneBridge provides the new web-based Corporate Directory application to allow access to corporate and personal contact data. The installation and configuration of this application is described in this document as well.

OneBridge Installation This chapter outlines the steps required to successfully install the OneBridge Server and DMZ Proxy for iPhone. For detailed information about individual components or options you can always refer to the product manuals available within your OneBridge Installation Package. The OneBridge solution provides support for synchronizing mobile devices with Microsoft Exchange Servers as well as with the Lotus Domino solution provided by IBM. Due to this multi-platform support, some information might not apply to your installation. Requirements After you successfully download the installation package, please make sure the system you plan to use for evaluation meets the following minimal requirements. For a detailed list of supported configurations and requirements please consult the product manuals available within the Installation Package. The installation of the OneBridge Server needs to be performed with an Account that has local Administration privileges on the machine you plan to use as your evaluation system. It is recommended not to use a primary personal PC for the evaluation. During the installation you will be asked to specify an Account the OneBridge Server itself will use to run on the machine. It is required that this Account has local Administration privileges.

Lotus Domino support Make sure your system is set up with a Lotus Notes client version compatible to the Lotus Domino server version your enterprise currently uses. The OneBridge Server will utilize the local Notes client installation available to communicate with your Domino server environment. You will need to specify an ID file to be used to access the Domino server with during the installation. The ID file used can be changed later at any time. For evaluation it is recommended to use one single ID file to access the Domino environment with. This single ID needs to have at least Editor Rights to the Mailboxes you want to synchronize your iPhone devices with.

Microsoft Exchange support Make sure the system is a member of your Active Directory domain when performing the installation. The OneBridge Server needs to be located in the same domain as the Exchange Server the system should have access to. You have to install a Microsoft component that can be downloaded from the Microsoft website to enable OneBridge to communicate with your Exchange environment.
