System Requirements
Read this section for a description of system requirements and the various components available to integrate the iPhone and iPod with enterprise systems.

iPhone and iPod touch
the iPhone and iPod touch devices you use with your corporate network should be updated with iPhone 2.2 software or later.

iTunes
iTunes 8.0 or later is required to establish a device. This release also is required to install software updates for iPhone or iPod touch, install applications and to synchronize music, video or other data with a Mac or PC.
To use iTunes, you need a Mac or a PC with a USB 2.0 port and meets the following specifications.

Mac OS X Computers

* Mac OS X Tiger 10.4.10 or later
* 1 GHz or faster
* 256 MB of RAM
* QuickTime 7.1.6 or later

Windows Computers

* Windows XP Service Pack 2 or Windows Vista
* Pentium 500 MHz or faster
* 256 MB of RAM
* QuickTime 7.1.6 or later

Some of the features of iTunes, such as using the iTunes Store, have additional requirements. Consult the documentation included with the iTunes installer for more information.

iPhone Configuration Utility
iPhone Configuration Utility lets you create profiles, device configurations and manage the profiles, install applications, and view the logs from the console of the connected devices.

The utility requires one of the following:

* Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard
* Windows XP (32-bit) with Service Pack 3. Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1
* Windows Vista (32-bit) with Service Pack 1. NET 3.5 Service Pack 1

Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync
iPhone and iPod touch support the following versions of Microsoft Exchange:

* Exchange ActiveSync for Exchange Server (EAS) 2003 Service Pack 2
* Exchange ActiveSync for Exchange Server (EAS) 2007 Service Pack 1

Supported Exchange ActiveSync
The following policy changes are supported:

* Enforce password on device
* The minimum password length
* Maximum failed password attempts
* Require that the numbers and letters
* The idle time in minutes

For a description of each policy, see the Exchange ActiveSync. Important: Activate the required policy numbers and letters in Exchange 2003 or Exchange Require alphanumeric password of 2007 requires the user to enter a password for the iPhone that contains at least one complex character.
