Installing VNET SipPhone for Apple iPhone

INSTALLATION
To support a SIP client on the iPhone requires a third-party soft-phone. As of this writing there s only one full featured SIP client available, the SipPhone from VNET Corp. This application can be purchased from the App Store for $6.99. Once installed, launch the SipPhone application.

CONFIGURATION
To setup the SipPhone client to connect to the Virtual Matrix, open the Accounts page and select “Add new SIP account” and edit the followi ng settings from the SIP Account page:
Domain: <VCOM Virtual Matrix IP Address OR Domain Name>
Username: <VCOM Client Login Name>
Password: <VCOM Client Login Password>

Select the Advance setting and edit the following settings from the Advanced Setting page:
Auth User: <VCOM Client Login Name>
Proxy Server: <VCOM Virtual Matrix IP Address OR Domain Name>
Registration Timeout: 070

From the Advance Settings page, select the SIP Account button to go back to the SIP Account page. From the SIP Account page select Save to save the settings for the new account. If the iPhone is behind an NAT it may be necessary to specify a STUN server to allow for NAT traversal. To do this, open the Settings page and edit the following settings:
SIP Stun: ON
SIP Stun Server: <VCOM Virtual Matrix IP Address OR Domain Name>:5060
[NOTE: If the SIP IP Port has been changed from default then the address above must be adjusted appropriately.]

Codec selection is always done by the VCOM Virtual Matrix with G.711 a-law being preferred over G711 u-law. However there is some sort of a compatibility issue with the SipPhone when using the G711 a-law. As such until this is resolved the Preferred Audio Codec must be explicitly changed to G711 u-law under VCOM System Administration -> Client Configuraton -> Audio Settings.
To simplify the connection process, it is recommended that the SIP Outbound Session Activation be configured for “On Registration” under VCOM System Administration -> Client Configuraton -> Options so that the VCOM Virtual Matrix will initiate the a call back to the iPhone as soon as the SipPhone application is started. If this is not done, then in order to initiate the session from the iPhone, the user name has to be numeric only so that the internal SIP client name (eg. for login name 1000 this would be *1000 ) can be entered in the SipPhone’s numeric only keypad.
When all settings are complete, from the Account Manager page, turn on the SIP account.
