Getting Ready 1. Pass one end of the strap through the strap mount on the camera body. 2. Pass the end of the strap through the closure A and B as shown in the figure. 3. Adjust the belt length. Use the same procedure to insert the other end of the belt to the other band mounting.

MOUNTING camera lens

1. Check the lens type.
2. Set it to OFF to turn the camera off.
3. Position the camera bayonet lens mount, so the mounting index on the lens and camera body are aligned, then twist lens counterclockwise until it clicks.
* Always change the lens in an area free of dirt and dust.
* When attaching the lens, so there is no pressure on the lens release button.
* When the lens is not connected or if a non-CPU Nikkor lens is attached and the device is switched on, “F -” flashes in the upper display and the viewfinder and the shutter can not be released. See page 19 for a non-CPU lens.
* Make sure the lens on the mountain as it is in a corner of the camera as this may damage the lens mount on the camera.

Using Nikkor lenses with built-in CPUs, other than G-type lenses

1. Set the aperture ring to the smallest aperture.
2. Lock the aperture ring. If you turn the camera without first selecting the smallest aperture (the aperture setting with the highest number), F “EE” flashes on the upper display and viewfinder and the shutter will not work

Removing the lens

1. Press and hold the lens release button, turn the lens clockwise.
2. While the lens is removed from the camera, the camera body cap on the camera inside the camera to protect and prevent contamination of the mirror and viewfinder screen. (You can also use the Nikon Body Cap BF-1A.)
