Switching on and off To switch your TomTomGO on or off, press and hold the On/Off button for 2 seconds. The first time you switch on, it may take a short while for your device to start.
Setting up To set up your TomTomGO you need to answer a few questions by tapping the screen.
Battery notes We recommend that you fully charge your TomTomGO the first time that you connect it to your computer. It takes up to 2 hours to charge the battery completely. When you place your GO in the Home Dock or use the USB cable to connect to your computer, you are asked if you wish to connect to the computer. If you select No, the device will switch off if you do not tap the screen for three minutes. This happens so that the battery can recharge at a faster rate. You can now decide to set up the software for either left-handed or right-handed operation. With left-handed operation, important buttons and controls will be located on the left side of the screen. As a result, you will be able to operate them with your left hand without obscuring the screen.
Planning your first route
The main screen of TomTom Navigator displays your position on the map. It gets this position from your GPS receiver. If your GPS receiver is switched off, or has not (yet) determined a clear position from the GPS satellites, the main screen will display your last known position. To emphasize the fact that your real position is unknown, the screen is displayed in back and white.

Unlocking Maps
Some MapSource products to be unlocked before you can use the detailed map data. If your product should be unlocked, you will find a piece of paper in the packaging of a product with an Unlock Code or Coupon Code.
The first time you installed a locked MapSource maps, the detected Locked Maps dialog asks you to unlock your maps. You can also unlock your maps from MapSource.

Garmin nuvi 705 Series PDF Quick Manual
Acquiring satellite signals may take several minutes. Bars indicate GPS satellite strength. When one bar is green, nüvi has acquired satellite signals. Now you can choose the destination and navigate to it.
Your route is marked with purple lines. As you travel, your nüvi to your target voice prompts, arrows on a map and directions at the top of the map. If you deviate from the original route, your nüvi recalculates the route and provides new directions. Touch and drag the map to display different areas on the map. Speed limit icon may appear as you travel on main roads.
FM traffic receiver, which is integrated into the vehicle power cable, nuvi is included in some packages. Operation of the receiver and nüvi must be in range of FM broadcasts TMC (Traffic Message Channel) data to receive traffic information.
