Application Submission Requirements for Windows® Marketplace for Mobile

Purpose
The purpose of this document is to detail the technical requirements that a Windows Mobile 6.0, 6.1 and 6.5 application must meet in order to pass testing and to be listed in the Windows® Marketplace for Mobile.

This document contains the software test requirements for applications running on both Professional and Standard devices. These requirements represent best practices to help developers bring stable, reliable, and performance driven applications to market. All requirements in this document pertain to software products written to Professional and Standard devices and the Windows Mobile 6.0, 6.1 and 6.5 operating systems unless otherwise noted.

Program Overview
The Windows® Marketplace for Mobile presents a very compelling opportunity for developers to monetize applications. Windows Marketplace delivers an end-to-end solution for end-users to discover, purchase, and download Windows Mobile applications. This includes an end-user
experience on the device, a website, as well as a self-service portal for developers to submit their applications for listing in Windows Marketplace. Windows Marketplace also represents the only distribution channel for Widgets on Windows Mobile 6.5. Limited waivers for test cases are reviewed on an individual basis. More information regarding pricing, processes and resources are detailed at the Windows Mobile Developer Portal — Windows Marketplace submission criteria are based on five core pillars. Each test case aligns with a pillar.
