1. Route the cable # 1 from control panel to area behind faceplate.
2. Mount the Manual / Auto switch on faceplate. This switch will allow the operator to select the method of spindle control. The spindle speed can be controlled by the DP8 (Auto), or by the Manual Spindle Control Potentiometer (Manual) that is already on the machine.
3. Disconnect the turquoise and brown wires on the Manual Spindle Control Potentiometer. Discard the two short red wires that are connected pins 1 and 2 on the potentiometer.
4. Solder the brown and turquoise wires to the proper wires on the Manual / Auto switch. This is detailed in the wiring diagram. These wires will be joined behind the faceplate.
5. Solder the green and black wires from the Manual / Auto switch to the proper pins on the Manual Spindle Control Potentiometer. These wires will be joined behind the faceplate.
6. Solder the orange wire from the Manual / Auto switch to the red wire on cable # 1. These wires will be joined behind the faceplate.
7. Solder the red wire from the Manual / Auto switch to the blue wire on cable # 1. These wires will be joined behind the faceplate.
8. Mount the optical gear selector switch as specified in the attached procedure. A small hole will need to be drilled in the faceplate for the wires from the optical switch.
9. Solder the orange wire from the optical switch to the yellow wire of cable #1. These wires will be joined behind the faceplate.
10. Solder the white wire from the optical switch to the green wire of cable #1. These wires will be joined behind the faceplate.
11. Solder the red wire from the optical switch to the brown wire of cable #1. These wires will be joined behind the faceplate.
12. Solder the black wire from the optical switch to the white wire of cable #1. These wires will be joined behind the faceplate.
13. Connect cable # 2 to the Aux port of the DP8. Route the cable to the control panel.
14. Connect cable # 3 to the display port of the DP8. Route the end of the cable with the black 9 pin D connector to the DP8 display. Route the small cable with two wires to the control panel.
15. Solder the brown wire from cable # 1 to the red wire of cable # 3. These wires will be joined inside the control panel.
16. Solder the white wire from cable # 1 to the blue wire of cable # 3. These wires will be joined inside the control panel.
17. Solder the green wire from cable # 1 to the green wire of cable # 2. These wires will be joined inside the control panel.
18. Solder the yellow wire from cable # 1 to the yellow wire of cable # 2. These wires will be joined inside the control panel.
19. Solder the red wire from cable # 1 to the red wire of cable # 2. These wires will be joined inside the control panel.
20. Solder the blue wire from cable # 1 to the blue wire of cable # 2. These wires will be joined inside the control panel.
21. Refer to DP8 CSS manual for calibration instructions.
